Jimmie L. Humbers Barnes age 82 of Vernon, AL passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2018 in the Generations of Vernon.
Born September 15, 1935, she is the daughter of the late Arthur and Daisy Shields Mitchell. She was one of 21 children. The family was large but a close and loving family. She enjoyed having her nieces and nephews come to visit for days at a time. She also loved gardening and sharing her garden with others. She was a longtime member of Pleasant Ridge Church and Freewill Chapel Church. She had worked many years in the sewing factory and many years as a clerk in the Lamar County Tax Collectors Office.
She is survived by her Husband, Joseph Edward Barnes of Vernon, AL, 2 Daughters, Wanda (Rodger) Guthery and Carolyn (Roger) Egger all of Sulligent, AL, 3 Step Sons, Wayne (Carolyn) Barnes, Doug (Evelyn) Barnes and Keith Barnes all of Vernon, AL, 6 Grandchildren, Johnny Guthery of Smithville, MS, Jennifer (Edward) Goode of Sulligent, AL, Rebecca (Shawn) Arnold of Samantha, AL, Johnathan (Heidi) Egger of Tremont, MS, Lisha (Riley) McDonald of Kelso, WA, and Ammie (Juston) Day of Summerdale, AL, 8 Great Grandchildren, Marietta Guthery, Sierra McDonald, Billie Claire Goode, Carleigh Goode, Madison Arnold, Douglas Egger, Annabell Egger and Riley McDonald, Several Step Grand Children and Step Great Grandchildren, 4 Brothers, Donald (Jean) Mitchell, Earnest (Willistine) Mitchell, Ellis (Annette) Mitchell, and Herman (Dottie) Mitchell all of Amory, MS and a Host of Nieces and Nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Daisy Shields Mitchell, Step Mother, Lula Mae Shields Mitchell, Husband Arie Humbers, Son, Roger Humbers, Sisters, Dorothy Kern, Mattie Bell McCraw, Evelyn DeLong, Betty Mae Poore, Eunice Harmon and Mavis Christian, and Brothers, Everett, Malcolm, Hartfol, Austin, Joice, Foy, Guy, Wayne, Charles, and Jerry Mitchell.
Services held Friday, August 10, 2018 at 3:00 PM from the Norwood Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Macedonia Cemetery. Bro. Glen Hughes and Bro. Regan Rye officiating.
