Fred Thompson age 69 of Sulligent, AL passed away Saturday, November 28, 2015 in the Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, AL.
Born April 28, 1946 in Fayette County, AL he is the Son of the late James Lester and Augusta Vaughn Thompson. Fred was a faithful member of the Shiloh Baptist Church and had lived in the Shiloh Community most of his life. He was a 1963 graduate of Lamar County High School. He received a BS Degree in Biology from Samford University, teaching certification from the University of Alabama and a Masters Degree in Supervision & Administration from Livingston University. He taught Science in Monroeville, AL for 17 yeas and for 22 years in Lamar County at Kennedy and South Lamar schools before retiring in 2007. Fred loved fishing, turkey hunting, trapping and gardening. He served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and grounds keeper at Shiloh Baptist Church.
Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Blanche Stabler Thompson of Sulligent, AL, 2 daughters, Ginny Thompson Northam and husband Justin of Ashville, AL, and Mandy Thompson of Sebastopol, MS, a brother, Paul Thompson of Fayette, AL, 4 grandchildren, Brady Northam, Molly Northam, Lydia Northam and Mariah Thompson and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Lester and Augusta Vaughn Thompson.
Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at 2:00 pm from the Shiloh Baptist Church with Bro. Glenn Boman, Bro. Jimmy May and Bro. Blake Thompson officiating.
The family will be available before and after the service to greet friends. No formal visitation will be held.
